Travel to Filoli Gardens in Woodside. Filoli is the last of the grand California estates created during the Golden Age of the early 20th Century and the longest surviving one. Designed and built between 1915 and 1917, Filoli is set against the dramatic backdrop of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Enjoy a docent tour of the 43-room mansion and 16 acres of themed formal gardens. This is a wonderful place to enjoy the day in the beautiful countryside. The house was the summer home of William Bourn, who built the Empire Mine. To enhance your fabulous day, enjoy a gourmet box lunch in a peaceful setting. Be sure to visit the gift shop for unique garden items. Box lunch choices are ham, roast beef, turkey or vegetarian sandwich. Register by March 12; call for availability after that date.
